A. College Timings

  • For convenient commuting, we provide bus service with various boarding points.
  • B. Dress Code

    We expect all students to maintain a neat and professional appearance while on campus.
  • Boys: Formal pants and tucked-in shirts are required, along with formal shoes. Sports shoes and slippers are not allowed.
  • Girls: Salwar suits are the expected attire
  • In case the students are wearing expensive gold ornaments, the institution will not be liable for any loss.
  • Lab/Workshop Dress Code: For Physics, Chemistry, Computer, and Electronics Laboratories, both boys and girls must wear a white overcoat and shoes as prescribed.
  • C. Academic Activity and Support

  • Students must wear their Identity Cards at all times while on campus
  • Every student is assigned a faculty co-ordinator who provides guidance on academic and other related matters. Students are encouraged to approach their faculty co-ordinator for assistance.
  • We conduct two internal assessments per semester, and results are shared with parents via SMS and WhatsApp
  • Parents are encouraged to actively monitor their child's academic progress and communicate with the student’s counselor.
  • Special coaching classes are regularly held for students who need additional academic support.
  • Regular attendance in theory and laboratory classes is mandatory, following AKTU norms.
  • Students must obtain prior permission for any leave of absence. Parents will be notified of absences via SMS and WhatsApp.
  • All leave requests, medical certificates, and permissions for academic and hostel-related matters should be addressed to the HOD/Director
  • Requests for bonafide certificates, expenditure certificates, Government scholarship forms, and book bank applications should be addressed to the Director.
  • D. Leaves Regulations

    Please take note of the following leave regulations:

    One day Leave:
    • A leave letter, signed by the student and parents (for day scholars) or warden (for hostellers), must be submitted the previous day
    • OR, in case of unavoidable circumstances, a leave letter signed by the parents can be submitted on the same day.
    Leave for four days or more:
    • The leave letter, with the parent’s signature, must be submitted the previous day.
    • An additional leave letter should be submitted on the first day of leave through a parent/guardian.
    • Parents may also call the office to inform the respective HOD about their ward’s leave.
    • For family functions or medical reasons, parents should meet the respective attendance in-charge in person to request leave.

    E. Attendance Requirements

  • UG degree course students must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance to be eligible to appear for University Examinations.
  • As per AKTU guidelines, the conditions to qualify for completing a semester are:
    • Students are expected to attend all classes.
    • However, for unavoidable reasons like medical issues, sports participation, or personal reasons, students must secure at least 75% attendance in each semester.
    • In extraordinary cases, such as severe medical problems or representing the college at state or national level competitions, students with 65% attendance may be permitted to take University Examinations.
    • Students with less than 65% overall attendance will not be allowed to take the University Examination under any circumstances.
    • These students will be required to repeat the entire year.

    F. EXAMINATION RULES

    Students should adhere to the following rules during the administration of regularly scheduled midyear or final examinations.

  • During bathroom breaks, students should not use computers, telephones (land line or cellular), tablets, or other communications devices.
  • In order to avoid any possible suggestion of improper behavior during an examination, undergraduates should refrain from communication with other students while an exam is in progress.
  • Students should also not retain or refer to any books or papers during an examination except with the express permission of the instructor or teaching staff.
  • Eating and drinking are not permitted in any examination room.
  • Personal belongings should be put away and all mobile phones and other electronic devices should be turned off.
  • In the event of a fire, students should take their personal belongings, their exam, and booklets and meet in the location announced at the beginning of the exam. Students should not leave the exam site or the emergency meeting location with any exam materials, nor should they discuss the exam with other students during the emergency procedures.
  • A student who is present for an student who is present for any part of an examination is never entitled to a makeup exam.
  • For violation of the examination rules or dishonesty in an examination, a student may be required to withdraw from the College. Students who fail to obey instructions are liable to disciplinary act.
  • LATE ARRIVAL TO EXAMINATION:

  • A student who is late for an exam may be refused admission and reported as absent. Students who are late for a final exam should report directly to the exam room. No one will be admitted to an examination more than 30 minutes after the start of the exam. Ordinarily, latecomers will not be allowed to make up lost time.
  • G. Technology Use

  • While SIMT recognizes the importance of technology in modern education, the use of cell phones during class hours is strictly prohibited to minimize distractions and maintain a focused learning environment
  • Students are expected to use college computer and internet resources responsibly and ethically, adhering to all institutional policies regarding online behavior.
  • Any misuse of technology, including but not limited to cyberbullying, unauthorized access to systems, or distribution of inappropriate content, will result in disciplinary action.
  • H. General Conduct and Discipline

  • Students are expected to conduct themselves with respect and courtesy towards faculty, staff, and fellow students at all times.
  • Any form of disruptive behavior, including but not limited to shouting, loitering in unauthorized areas, or causing disturbances in classrooms or the library, is strictly prohibited.
  • SIMT maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging. Any student involved in ragging will face severe disciplinary action, including the possibility of expulsion and legal consequences.
  • Students are responsible for maintaining cleanliness of the campus and its facilities. Littering, vandalism, or damage to college property will not be tolerated.
  • Violation of any of these rules and regulations may result in disciplinary action, the severity of which will be determined by the institution based on the nature of the offense.
  • SIMT prohibits unauthorized recording of any kind; this includes audio, video, or photographic recording. Any recording or attempt to record, inside the classroom or elsewhere, requires prior consent from all those being recorded. Secretly recording any conversation is not permitted, whether in person, over the phone, or by any other medium. We believe that these guidelines will help in maintaining a disciplined and ethically progressive academic community.
  • To safeguard the integrity of SIMT resources, the College relies on its students to use them with care, appropriately, and as authorized; to respect the rights of others who also have access; and to observe the rules granting access to, and use of, those resources. Failure to abide by the rules governing use of College resources ordinarily will result in disciplinary action.
  • Physical Violence: SIMT strives to maintain a safe and secure environment for all members of the community and thus does not tolerate physical violence or threats of physical violence used by or against the members of the community. Students are expected to avoid all physical conflicts, confrontations, and altercations unless their own safety or that of another is at extreme jeopardy. Failure to do so will ordinarily result in disciplinary action, including, but not limited to, requirement to withdraw from the College.
  • Honesty: The College expects that all students will be honest and forthcoming in their dealings with the members of this community. A student who commits an offense against law and order during a public disturbance or demonstration or who disregards the instructions of any other College Authority at such a time is subject to disciplinary action and may be required to withdraw.
  • Drugs and Alcohol: SIMT expects its students and employees to maintain an environment that is safe and healthy. The unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol by students on SIMT property or as a part of any SIMT activity are violations of College rules as well as the law. Possession, use, or distribution of certain nonprescription drugs, including marijuana, amphetamines, heroin, cocaine, and nonprescription synthetics; procurement or distribution of alcohol by anyone are violations of the law and of SIMT policy. All students are expected to comply with all applicable city, state, and country laws and regulations as well as with all College rules governing the use and possession of alcohol. The College does not permit transportation or consumption of alcoholic beverages in open containers in public areas or otherwise on campus.
  • DISCIPLINARY ACTION: The College will take serious action on students, requirement to suspension, expulsion, rustication, in any case involving the possession in quantity or the sale or distribution of drugs, or when cases of drug and alcohol use create a danger to individuals or to the community at large. The College will also take action in cases in which a student is involved in the falsification of identification with the intent of obtaining alcohol. If a person was seriously harmed, or could have been seriously harmed, as a result of consuming drugs or alcohol provided by another person, then the College may take disciplinary action against the person who provided the drugs or alcohol, up to and including requirement to withdraw from college.
